Review: Abductors – The End is Near
If you’re sick and tired of all the “pick it ups” and “lets go, yeah, 1 2 3 4’s” then the Abductors premiere CD “The End is Near” is for you my friend. With raunchy, stinging guitars and sinister lyrics that could make even the most braindead punk rock dropout think, the Abductors slam forward with old Dayglow Abortions, Angry Samoans style LA punk rock. The highlight of the album (only six songs) is the prophetic “Robot City,” a grueling look at the mechanization of mankind, and his ultimate downfall by his own tragic hands. The singer can be monotonous, but the band drowns out his banality with double bass pedal drum swirls and alien-gray, anti-melodic bass lines. You can find The Abductors in the gutters and knee-length grassy backyards of the greater Los Angeles area.
