This unholy group of miscreants was Pantera. Their bassist was Rex Brown. Yeah… mutherfucker is crazy. I’ll get inside your head, man! After many years with one of the most respected bands in heavy metal, his post-Pantera work found him laying down the low end for moody grease rockers Kill Devil Hill. But what many might not have known… Rex can sing. Dark and sultry, with a road worn grit underneath. He stepped up front to do a solo album that dropped in June of 2017. Entitled, “Smoke On This”, the release features grimy guitars, haunting vocals and just a slight twang of country. Check out a preview of the album with the track, ‘Buried Alive’. And here is another greasy rocker called, ‘Train Song’. And here is one more off the new album… and the AC/DC influence is showing hard with ‘Crossing Lines’.
