King Parrot video has Phil Anselmo cameo

Australian grindcore sludge punkers King Parrot have a new album coming out on May 19 called, “Dead Set”.

It drops on Housecore Records for American distribution. Housecore is Phil Anselmo’s label. And Phil Anselmo is the gravel-for-breakfast singer of Pantera. He also produced the album and appears in the video for the first single, “Like a Rat”.

That’s about all the street cred one needs in the world of metal.

The band has only been around since 2010, but through their independently released, “The Stench of Hardcore Pub Trash” EP and followup full length “Bite Your Head Off” (Candlelight Records), the band has gained what the industry calls, ‘traction’.

Which means a lot of people are paying attention.

It was't a dingo that ate your baby... Australian thrashpunksludgegrindcore merchants King Parrot.

It was’t a dingo that ate your baby… Australian thrashpunksludgegrindcore merchants King Parrot.

And there is a reason for that.

Extremely pure aggression coupled with a technical execution of riffs and changes that challenges the listener to a fight. Then buys them a beer after it kicks their ass.

Australians are brilliant that way.

And they are funny. And so is Phil… check out the comedic sensibilities coupled with some sonic devastation from, ‘Like a Rat, the first single off their upcoming album, “Dead Set”.

This band is under the radar now… but they are on tour in the states through April supporting Weedeater. Get out and catch their set and show the Aussies some US metal love.

And here is a lovely track called, “Shit on the Liver” from their previous album, “Bite Your Head Off”. It has a lengthy intro skit, but rams into the song part like an drunken street trick on crank.

Oh yeah… and this is an actual Australian King Parrot. Now you know.

Does not play metal.
