HomeMusicReview: Missing Pilots Missing Pilots “Dispassionately” (Eidus Records) Here is a safety warning for Missing Pilots’ new album Dispassionately: Don’t do a review of it at 3 in the morning when you are doing your damndest to stay awake. Sleeper doesn’t begin to describe it. It is track after track of downbeat emotional Valium. Must go on writing review…These guys have gotten a lot of early Radiohead comparisons. I cannot for the life of me imagine why that is unless these reviewers are basing this wild comparison on the fact that Missing Pilots sound EXACTLY like early Radiohead. Just a little slower. OK a lot slower. There are good songs don’t get me wrong. Sometimes you want music to go to sleep by. Chronic insomniacs and speed addicts for example would probably benefit from this album. The third song “I know you don’t mean it” is a nice little change up on an otherwise one trick pony CD. But even if I was in the market for music to go extinct by, I wouldn’t be able to get away from the Radiohead thing. In fact I read an article where some on found some old Radiohead material from before “Pablo Honey” and sent it to record companies under another name to gauge their reactions and try and humiliate them. I am not 100% sure I have not become round two of said sociological experiment. If this is the case you guys can kiss my ass. If not I will say go ahead and check these guys out if you needed 6 slower tracks on The Bends. Hell I don’t know, some one has to be buying Coldplay albums.
