I guess one would have to call this experimental art metal. The music goes all over the map, but always remains hard, fast and furious, but not too fast or too furious. The musical breakdowns don’t alienate the listener, but rather pull her in, caress her and create tiny Goosebumps of excited anticipation for the terrific banging cacophony soon to come. The music is lyrically sparse, but when there are vocals to be sung they are shouted with sore-throated glee from the higher end of the death metal vocal continuum.
The band breaks for rhythm section jams and they make sure they aren’t overly wankish or over stay their welcome. For art metal with mathematic inclinations this is surprisingly enjoyable; it’s a fun ride following the swirling pools and eddies left in the guitars wake and tracing them to their destination.
A highly skilled and competent release from a band with more than a few tricks up their sleeves. Check it out.
