Review: Die Toten Hosen

Die Toten Hosen
(Nuclear Blast Records)

German Punk.  I must admit this is a new concept for me. The band from ‘Dusseldorf, West Germany’ as the Producer so points out to us, sounds to be a cross between the Clash and the techno revolution of the Nineties.  They do a cover of “I Fought The Law” that sounds exactly like the legendary Clash.  With many hit albums under their belt in Europe, “Crash-Landing” is their first international debut.  The band has been around in one form or another since 1981 and it shows in the different styles played on the album.  I could sense a little British inspired punk in the first few tracks and a Scorpions feel in “Soul Influence”.  Though this album may not be for everyone, it is definitely refreshing to hear this hybrid of music.  I recommend going to their website, and downloading some songs.
